This novel tells the story of a young graduate of the Terran Alliance’s Military Academy learning the ropes as a young pilot in the Scouts as it is about her finding love and leadership and then suddenly losing it all. Then with the help of both her mentor the beautiful Captain Cansina and her best friend fellow Pilot the equally beautiful alien Treanka from the planet Soletia, she is able to recover from her losses and find love again. In turn she is able to help Treanka recover from her losses as well.

Through it all Cansina helps Ariana in both her career as a Pilot in the military organization of the Terran Scouts as well as dealing with the disasters in the early part that took the lives of both her lover and first Captain.
